Vehicle Profile

Currently in storage at THV is former Busways Dart 1723, owned by a NEBPT member.

Dennis Dart 1723 was the first of a batch of six new buses numbered 1723 - 1728 (K723PNL to K728PNL) delivered to Sunderland Busways in 1993. When delivered in its yellow and green Sunderland Busways livery it also gained and sported a 'CITY OF SUNDERLAND' badge on the front to commemorate the granting of City Status in 1992 by Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II on the 40th anniversary of her accession to the throne.

After the ownership of Busways passed to Stagecoach in 1994, 1723 was painted into Stagecoach stripes and eventually renumbered 32723 by the early 2000s. Now in swoops, it was soon transferred to Newcastle, where it started to operate out of Slatyford depot.

In November 2009 it left the Stagecoach fleet for a life in preservation, being purchased by the North East Bus Preservation Trust. After seeing the rally season in 2010 in swoops, 1723 underwent a complete restoration into the condition it was when new and sporting its City of Sunderland badge.
