On Sunday 1st July, The Glasgow Vintage Vehicle Trust opened its Bridgeton Bus Garage to the public where they celebrated the 60th anniversary of the entry into service in Glasgow of the Leyland Atlantean. The Trust invited Leyland Atlantean owners from around the country to come and join in the celebrations, and from the THV shed Atlantean 680 GBB516K attended. 680 was seen on display at the Bridgeton Garage alongside Atlantean cousins, as well as provided visitors the chance to sample it on the internal shuttle service. Visitors had the chance to wander round and look at what goes on at Bridgeton Garage, seeing vehicle restoration work at all stages.
The event was a huge success and 680's owners Fred McKale and Linda Harvey thoroughly enjoyed attending the event and thank the GVVT for the extended invite.

With Leyland Atlantean 680 GBB516K enjoying the lime-light at Glasgow, it was vehicle of choice to attend the Seaburn Historic Vehicle Rally on August late summer Bank Holiday.
As the last event in the North East rally calendar, the event is always well attended by people and buses - with this year no exception. The event also attracts vintage cars and trucks from around the area, as well as contributions from local operators.
With 680 being freshly repainted last year, it once again attracted the attention of passers-by with many positive comments about the appearance and overall restoration of the bus.
The event, hosted by the North East Bus Preservation Trust, was a fantastic day out for all.

Preserved Northumbria Motor Services DAF SB200/Optare Delta 251 G251SRG, which is stored at Tyneside Heritage Vehicles, attended one of the most talked about bus gatherings in the rally calendar. For over 40 years the world's biggest bus display, Showbus, has attracted a colourful display of hundreds of old and new buses and coaches from right around the UK.
251 made the long trip down to Donnington Park where this year's event was held and was on display next to two of it's younger Optare cousins. Midland Red's Optare Metrocity and Marshall's Optare Versa YJ67GBE were the two vehicles next to 251, we're not biased by we think 251 was the best in the line-up!
